Myanmar: Forever Group upgrades to DVB-T2, while reducing CAPEX and OPEX, thanks to TWISTER exciters
Amsterdam, September 10, 2015 – TeamCast, the world-renowned leader in digital modulation technologies for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), Wireless Transmission and Satellite Applications, announces they supplied TWISTER exciters for the upgrade of Forever Group’s Network in Myanmar.
Since 2005, Forever Group Co. Ltd operates a DVB-T transmitting network in Myanmar, to broadcast 16 channels, including the national TV channel MRTV-4 as well as pay-TV services.
The decision for a migration to DVB-T2 in Myanmar was formalized in January 2012 and is part of an overall digitization program of the terrestrial TV network. After a first trial with three DVB-T2 transmitters, Forever Group decided to explore an innovative solution for upgrading their existing transmitters by exchanging only the exciter part rather than exchanging the whole transmitters.
TeamCast proposed its TWISTER rack exciter to do the upgrade. A trial on a 100 W transmitter showed the integration was straightforward and the transmitter performance enhanced in terms of signal quality and energy efficiency, thanks to the excellent GAP® Adaptive Pre-Distortion offered by TWISTER.
« This consumer case clearly illustrates the new possibility Broadcasters have to upgrade only the exciter part in such a DVB-T2 transition phase, with a double benefit: a reduction of the immediate CAPEX cost, and a long term reduction of the OPEX cost, over the whole life time of the upgraded network» says Eric PINSON, Business Unit Manager at TeamCast.
The TWISTER exciter will be demonstrated on TeamCast’s stand #2.B51.
