Demod4-T2: The unique demodulator for early testing and monitoring DVB-T2 signals:

  • On-field signal demodulation
  • Transmission signal performance checks
  • Monitoring solution for QoS
  • R&D laboratory experiments

Description

The Demod4-T2 is the first reference demodulator that provides the means to measure and to monitor signal performance figures for DVB-T2, the second generation of terrestrial Digital TV standard.
In particularly, Demod4-T2 gives the mean to measure the MER figure in real time that is commonly considered as a key figure to qualify a transmitting system. Demod4-T2 is fed either from a medium level signal (Demodulation input) or from the Receiving input (RF tuner) depending on the targeted usage. A comprehensive control software suite is provided and displays measurement traces, signal spectrum and constellation. It also permits to configure and control the unit via Ethernet local or remote connection.

Comprehensive DVB-T2 transmission monitoring

Placed at a transmission site, the Demod4-T2 can continuously monitor in real-time the essential signal performance figures such as input level, MER and shoulder levels. User can select the Demodulation input to achieve high level of MER measurement (more than 40dB). The Demod4-T2 output the received stream over a standard TS over ASI interface dedicated to feed a external video/audio decoder or a TS stream analyser.

Performant & Future proof

Demod4-T2 addresses early DVB-T2 product designer’s request to have reference DVB-T2 demodulator. Used in pair with the Power4-T2 (TeamCast’s DVB-T2 modulator), users can build a DVB-T2 transmission reference chain. Early DVB-T2 field trials target to evaluate DVB-T2 service coverage performances. Demod4-T2 fulfils broadcaster’s expectation to perform early measurement of DVB-T2 signal on the field. In that case, the receiving input is to be used to cope with onair transmission signal impairments (adjacent channels, signal fading, multi-paths, etc.).
